

MAUREEN DOREY (Story Editor)

Maureen Dorey is a free-lance story editor and script analyst whose produced credits include: In Darkness, written by David Shamoon, directed by Agnieska Holland, (premiered at TIFF 2011, nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay Genie, Poland’s entry for Oscar for Foreign Language), the Genie-nominated NURSE.FIGHTER.BOY (produced 2008), AMAL, the Genie-nominated film written by Shaun and Richie Mehta (2007), A STONE’S THROW written by Garfield Lindsay Miller and Camelia Frieberg (director) (2006), MOCCASIN FLATS, SEASON II, RANDOM PASSAGE, an eight-hour mini-series directed by John N. Smith, produced by Passage Films and Cité-Amérique for broadcast on CBC and RTE (Eire), and MILE ZERO, a feature film produced by Anagram Films. Other produced credits include BORN INTO THIS by writer-director Emmanuel Shirinian, EXTRAORDINARY VISITOR, THE WAR BETWEEN US; LYDDIE,VIOLET and ON MY MIND, 6 x 30 min. children’s dramas. She has worked with writers acrossCanada.
For the past 10 years, she has been the Story Editor in Residence at the Canadian Film Centre, engaged in developing feature film scripts with residents of its Writers Lab, and consulting with residents in the Directors, Producers and Editors Labs, as well as providing mentorship to the new Actors Conservatory progamme. She has acted as story editor on several CFC Features projects, including: THE DARK HOURS, SIBLINGS, HORSIE’S RETREAT and SHOW ME.
She has also acted as consultant and instructor to Women in Film and Television, the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, the National Screen Institute, Praxis Film Works, NIFCO and B.C. Film.
